This item is an old ca. 1925 Rookwood 5-5/8 inch tall, 3 handled vase, in an unusual glaze color that we have not previously seen.Vase shows some slight crazing, but only on the very bottom where the first firing glaze can be seen, and also has an original bubble burst hole under one of the handles, which we are showing in several views, but there are no significant flaws. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines, no repairs, nor are there any other flaws. My best guess on the glaze is Ombroso, as we have been through the Ellis Rookwood Glaze Line book several times, and the only thing that seems to come close is Ombroso. The color is a dark yellow mustard, with lighter shades on exposed rim lines, as one can see in the attached photos. Glaze is an unusual color, and the only piece of Rookwood we have ever seen in this color and texture glaze. The color reproduction in the photos is very close to actual color, and if anything, to be perfect it might need a tiny bit more yellow-green, that is, slightly less brown tones, and slightly more yellow tones, trending toward yellow-green very slightly. Vase stands 5-5/8 inches tall, it has 3 looping handles, and it is bottom marked with the Rookwood flames mark, XXV, 2428, as we are picturing. See images for more details. Email any questions to us.
