Here we have the highly collectible 1939 Philco model7 table radio. This Art Deco beauty features a stunning walnut cabinet,elegantinlays, classic sunburst dial, automatic pushbutton tuning, and excellentperformance.

Cabinet:The American walnut cabinet is simply gorgeous.Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set. Two eye catching slantgrain inlays flow through the middle of the cabinet surrounded by blond pinstripetrim. A large grill area not only looks great but allows for optimal sound fromthe speaker. Jet black trim and an elegant brass escutcheon, housing all thestation call letters, finish this set off perfectly. This beauty is sure to bethe main topic of conversation no matter which room in the home or office youchoose to display it in.

Dial/Knobs:Philco’s classic black and gold dial is a real attentiongetter. The center displays a sunburst design surrounded by all the stationfrequencies. All letters and numbers are legible and show little signs of wear.The dial glass is clear and free from any chips, breaks, or cracks. The sleekairplane style pointer features a cool bull’s-eye center and turns nicelyaround the dial. The station call letter escutcheon, and the dial escutcheon,both shine nicely and add an elegant touch. All the pushbuttons are functionalhowever it is recommended you use the manual tuning due to the age and delicacyof the automatic pushbutton mechanism. Both knobs are perfect and work asfollows; on/off & volume, and tuning.

Grill Cloth: The 1930’s stylegrill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring ayellowgold color with aminiature square design. This grill cloth can also be purchased separately onour other sales.
Call Letter Tabs:The station call letter tabs are quality reproductions done on a heavy card stock for durability and original look. These call tabs can also bepurchased separately on our other sales.

Electronics/Chassis: All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. With the included copper line antenna the radio performs exceptionally well on the AM broadcast band with sensitive reception, mellow tone, and plenty of volume.

Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of thewood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this byremoving all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinetwith fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishesare filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any fillerapplied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beautyof the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand.We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied inthe same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. Weuse a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLPturbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer isvery thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep intothe grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coatalong with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. During the restoration process on this radio a small veneer repaired was made on the right corner of the cabinet. It has been filled and blended and does not detract from the beauty of the set. Many hours ofwork are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is abeautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. In rareinstances however, as with any vintage electronics, minor problems can occurduring shipment due to the age and delicacy of antique radio parts. If yourradio arrives and does not work please let us know. We will gladly walk youthrough the process of troubleshooting to get it started. If that fails tocorrect the problem we will pay for return shipping to us, diagnose and fix theproblem, and return the radio to you. We also offer a 30 day warranty on all the tubes, capacitors,resistors, and filters. Due to the design of some antique radio parts we cannotwarranty transformers, coils, tuners, and speakers. However, if at any timethese parts would happen to fail, we will assist in repairing or replacing thedefective part at minimal cost. Finally, in very rare instances, ifthere is shippingdamage aUSPS insurance claim request must be made to me from the buyer immediately uponreceipt of the radio. A USPS inspection of the radio, boxes, and all packingmaterials is required. The refund will be issued upon USPS approval and paymentof the insurance claim.
