In order to keep pace withEmerson‘s line of elegant Ingraham cabinets, Zenith also contracted the famedcabinet maker to produce cabinets for a few of their models. As is the case forthis beautiful 1941 6-D-625 table radio featuring a stunningsolid walnut Ingraham cabinet, superior craftsmanship, attractive black dial, ‘Z’knobs, and top mounted tortoise shell handle.

Cabinet:The solid walnut cabinet boasts gorgeous wood grainthroughout with an eye appealing swirled grain front. Vent slits run across thetop and sides of the cabinet making for a unique look. A left side grill, with solid wood louvers, and a top mounted tortoise shell handle finish thecabinet off perfectly. Thisbeauty is sure to be the highlight of any roomin the home or office you choose to display it in.

Dial/Knobs:Zenith’s classic black dial is a real head turner. All numbers and letters representingstation frequencies are legible and show little signs of wear. The large airplane style \'Z\' pointeradds a nice touch. The new dial cover is clearand free from any cracks or breaks. Both ivory‘Z’ knobs are in great shape.

Grill Cloth: The 1930’s stylegrill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring awhiskeygold color with an Art Decogeometric design. This grill cloth can also be purchased separately onour other sales.

Electronics/Chassis: The radio is currently non working. The previous owner restored the electronics with new caps, filters, resistors, wiring and a new speaker. All 6 tubes, and all parts, are present but it does not power up. Since this is such a collectible set I opted to restore the beautiful cabinet an sell as adisplay model only. And what a displayershe is!10% of the proceeds will go to our local Multiple Sclerosis Society Chapter. My wife has had MS for many years and we appreciate all the research and help the MS Society provides!

The Cabinet’s Finish & Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo avigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of thewood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this byremoving all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinetwith fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishesare filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any fillerapplied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beautyof the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand.We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied inthe same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. Weuse a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLPturbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer isvery thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep intothe grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coatalong with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours ofwork are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is abeautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radiosare a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as wellas listen to, in any room of the home or office.
