Beautiful old antique cognac, slivovitz ( plum brendy ) or rum bottle from the time of Austro-Hungarian empire.Approximately 1890-1910, definitely before the first world war.
Great four sides bottle.First side is side with Hungarian coat of arms and the crown of St.Stefan.Second side is side for label.Third side is side with trade mark and with yearwhen the company was founded.Fourth side is side with Hungarian inscription:KŐNIGSTÁDTLER TESTVÉREK UJVIDÉK (KŐNIGSTÁDTLER BROTHERS NOVI SAD )
About the firm:The Konigstadtler brothers company was founded 1861. in Ujvidek ( present day Novi Sad, Serbia ) in that time part of Austro-Hungarian empire. Company was famous in producing cognac, rum, slivovitz ( plum brendy ), fruit liquers, alcohol and vinegar. For their products is awarded to more than ten exhibitions, one of the most important was the World Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876, when he was awarded for its high quality vinegar. In Novi Sad had their main warehouse, but also in larger cities like Budapest.After the first World War, the company continues to work in a new country Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians ( later the Kingdom of Yugoslavia) and successfully sells its products in all Yugoslavia and to the European markets (Belgium, France, Great Britain ...) and overseas.Unfortunately, the factory was confiscated during World War II, and the owners were probably taken to concentration camps in Croatia ( Jasenovac ) and killed because they were Jewish.This bottle was probably part of their luxury packaging.
