Item Description:

This is a rare early pueblo Indian bird effigy pot that is also a canteen. The pot measures 4 1/2\" tall and 6 1/4\" across. The wings have two holes so that the pot could be hung. The pot has attractive old patina with a beautifully painted design. It looks like it could be a Zia or Zuni pueblo pot. This pot has substantial damage, it is missing the bird\'s head and has some large chips on the underside of one of the wings as well as a small chip near the edge of one of the wings. It is difficult for me to determine if part of the tail is missing. It feels a little rough, but there looks to be old paint and patina. There is overall scuffing to the paint.
