Hello and welcome to our sale.I picked this artwork from an estate near
San Diego, California.
Local pickup is always welcome.This estate was well traveled.
Europe, Africa and the Americas primarily.According to the estates\' family this
piece was hanging on her walls for at least 50 years.It is an etching with hand painted highlights.
Not sure highlights is the correct word here.One side is etched with no paint and the other
side is glossier with paint.
The painted side has the words at the top backwards.I tried to take good pictures of the painted side but it\'s
not easy.The frame is made of lead.The art, not including the hanging chain is 8 1/2 inches in length.
Side to side is 6 1/2\".
The thickness of the piece is almost 1/4 of an inch.
More like 3/16\".
It weighs 15 ounces.The words:
\"\"EIN GAMSENJAGER\",
are at the topand in English translate to:
\"CHAMOIS HUNTER\".Estimated creation date is circa 1883.The last picture shows both pieces I have on now,
