RARE Old MARION HOTEL 2 oz. Silverplate / Silver Soldered Creamer / Pitcher created by THE HENRY BRUML CO. XIV,located at 42 Warren St. in NYC in the 1930s.. Creamer / pitcher measures 2.5 inchesacross from handle to spout and stands 2.25 inches tall.Bottom is engraved "THE HENRY BRUML CO. XIV, NEW YORK"followed by"MARION."I have three of these that are identical indetails and of comparable condition. This listing is for one creamer only.
ABOUT SILVER SOLDERED.....In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, several silver manufacturers made special pieces for hotels, restaurants, passenger trains, cruise ships, the military, etc.Most of the pieces were made of silver plate. However, because of the heavy use these pieces would encounter, a processdesigned to add durability ~silver soldering ~ was developed. Some people believe the term, "silver soldered"involves using a silver compound material to solder joints and seams together. Another school of thought suggests thatthe term defined the plating process used in order to differentiate it from electroplating.
