Offered here is a very nice mini Fox Fetish carving by Native American Zuni Pueblo Artisan: Edna Leki (d. 2003). Edna is the daughter of Teddy Weahkee and mother of Lena Boone. Edna created many fine carvings and fetish bowls in her lifetime and is thought to have been the first female carver at the Zuni Pueblo. This carving comes from an Estate Collection and actual age in unknown.

Edna carved this small piece from an attractive white & black Fishrock Serpentine. The medicine bundle is composed of what looks like a Dolomite arrowhead with red coral and turquoise beads and old heishi shell beads. The eyes and mouth are not inlaid. They may have been blackened with pitch at one time, but that has mostly faded.

SIZE: This is a very small carving and measures only about 1&7/8 inches long. It\'s just about 7/8 of an inch high at the medicine bundle and up to 1/2 of an inch wide.

Please Note: The photos are highly magnified, so please look at the photos of the fetish with a quarter and a hand to get an idea of the scale and size.

CONDITION: Used, very nice vintage condition. Comes from an Estate Collection.

AUTHENTICITY: This is an authentic Native American hand-carved item and comes from the Zuni Pueblo in northern New Mexico (USA). The piece is not signed which is typical for this artist.

ATTRIBUTES: In native tradition, each animal is believed to have inherent powers or qualities that may aid the owner of a fetish carved in the image of that animal. The fox is known for it\'s camouFlage capabilities, the ability to meld into one\'s surroundings and be unnoticed.

We are a family business located in the small town of Silver City, New Mexico.
