A fine handcrafted sterling porringer after 18th century American designs.Curved sides and hand pierced handle. Monogrammed MKE on the handle. Ithas a minor denton the bottom on one side and a few light use scratches on theinside bottom.

OldNewbury pieces are always marked ONC or O.N.C. They are handcrafted, not machinestamped. This piece is pre 1965. In 1965 craftsmen began addingtheir own personal mark on the sterling item. ONC continues to produce thefinest quality handcrafted sterling in Amesbury, MA.

Some sellers list MeridenSterling, which has a bird logo and a model number stamped on the item, as O.N.C. Old NewburyCrafters has never used a bird marking on their sterling. The old Rainwater Sterling book incorrectly made a reference to the bird marking and caused some confusion. ONC has used the Moulton family crest (a Phoenix) in some of their advertisements, but never on their sterling.

Nothingwrong with Meriden pieces, they pre-date ONC. But they are machine stamped and often light in weight.
Old Newbury Crafters continues to be one of the finest sterlingproducers of handwrought sterling.This would make a memorable gift for a baby or wedding gift. An attractive and rare item that would be treasured and have many different uses as time went on.

The handle has an attractive monogram. I think of monograms as part of the history of the piece, as are minordings or scratches. However, if you don\'t want a monogram, Old Newbury Crafters skilled craftsmen...and now women, can remove it as if it never existed and even engrave a new monogram.

Measurements:3 3/4 across bowl at top. The hand pierced handle is 2 1.8\" long. MarkedONC STERLING 8110 - weight is 148.3 gr. Allitems are hand polished before shipping.
