This patented quick action pipe wrench does not seem like it was a great idea. But someone carried and used this one a long time. Here is an example ofNielander\'s patent of April 22, 1919. Made in Kokomo, Indiana by F.W. Macke & Co., and named the \"Quickset.\" Nowthis one may not be up to original specs, as the catching lever for the swing-out stop piece seems toneed a little help; at least does not lock smoothly. Don\'t see anything missing though. And if you carry this one like most wrenches by he handle and hanging down, the unlocked upper jaw is liable to fall out. But it does seem to work and is a presentable and collectible item. That spiral stop, by the way, looks like an adjusting screw as seen on many types of wrenches, but it does not turn, just swings to engage or disengage from the teeth on the stem of the jaw.Measures a little over 12 inches long. Uncommon.
