Omega Speedsonic F300 Chronograph - The Rarest Omega Chrono:
$943.98

The rarest of Omega\'s Seamasters and among the most accurate, the f300 Speedsonic of the early 70s used the Calibre 1250 tuning fork movement, a precision 12-jewel movement that improved on Bulova\'s Accutron tuning fork development. Invented by the same man who invented the Accutron, this second attempt corrected for the Accutron\'s tendency to lose accuracy when stored in the up or down position. The Omega developed movement solves this problem and includes a dayand date function, too. The chronograph dial face has constant seconds on top, a 30-minute counter at the 9 o\'clock position, and a 12-hour counter at 6.
The case is, I believe, a gold-plated stainless steel body with stainless steel back. It\'s very large, 43mm wide without crown, and 44mm lug-to-lug, with a 22mm lug width thataccommodates the matching Omega bracelet. The case has very light signs of use, while the bracelet has areas of thin plating and a worn but working latch, but all of it works very well. The accuracy of the movement is truly remarkable, even today in the ageof quartz, but there\'s no quartz \"stutter\" as the second hand rotates, just the smoothest sweep imaginable. Put themassive case to your ear and you hear the deep 300-cycle tone.
The gold case sets off a perfect two-tone dial and hands. Sub-dials and the outertachometer scale are a light tan on a lighter background, with contrasting flat and reflectivesurfaces and a white hand set.

Added June 2: Member asked for photos of the back of the watch. Omega \"Sea Horse\" Seamaster engraving is very faint, hard to photograph.
