One ounce (approximately227 rings) of saw cut 16 gauge, 1/4\" IDaluminum jump rings for making jewelry or maille (chain mail). The aluminum alloy is 5356 which is typically called bright aluminum. They are wound on a mandrel then cut with a very thin (only .008\" thick) jewelers slitting saw in a jig. The rings are then cleaned to remove the cutting lubricant, dried, then tumbled to remove the small burs from the saw and to polish them to a brilliant shine. As a final step, the rings are again washed and dried to remove the dust and metal chips from the polishing. This alloy will stay shiny and has very little of the grey rub off found in the less expensive aluminum alloys.
