This is one of over 100 photos I will be listing that were taken circa 1910 by my great-grandfather, Dr. William L. Bates of Sioux City, Iowa. Dr. Bates not only was a physician, but also acted as a justice of the peace and a photographer. These photos have been carefully removed from the albums they were in but still retain some of the paper from the album pages where the photos were glued in to the album.
This photo is a 5x7. Apparently, the Sioux City, Iowa, stockyard or livestock men and women took a “booster trip” to Rapid City, South Dakota, and this is one of the photos Dr. Bates took to commemorate that trip. This is a photo of a wagon and horses, with several people in the wagon. Behind them is a sign that says Post Office Café.
