This is a 1856 pre Civil War Ambrotype Family of 4 Photos backed with Gold foil. Photos are in Gutta Percha Union Case with riveted hinges, Ornate case has embossed Mother & Daughter along with a Dog and Cat on front & back covers, The only flaw I see is a horizontal crack on the back cover below the embossed images. Case is made by Littlefield Parsons Co Patented April 21 1856 & Oct. 14 1856, Measures 6\" x 4 5/8\" opened and 4 5/8\" X 3\" x 1\" folded closed. Please view scans closely, email with questions.
