Thisis a standard leather artillery valise (for storing implements) from the Civil War period. I cannot find any maker\'s markings, and the leather end on one side is missing.

Iam selling this valise for a dear friend, whose husband, a long-time friend andmuseum colleague of mine, died last Spring, while touring the Vicksburg MSbattlefield with another pal of ours. This valise is from the estate ofJohn H. McGarry, III, a noted collector, re-enactor, and museum director.
