Many of us are familiar with Norma DeCamp. Those that have followed her over the years may also know that she refers to her son David as a design genius. She is quoted in an article as saying, \"It is such fun to work with him, as he takes time and really cares about detail.The belts, the fur, the bodies the toys, all are done to his specifics.We make a constant supply of interesting toys to add to them weekly.David is the one that toys them up and no one can do this like he does.\"
Christmas is my favorite time of year. All I ever put on my Christmas list is another ornament, or Santa or holiday treasure. I am parting with some of these treasures this year to minimize college loans for my freshman son. I was blessed to have my only child at age 45 and in a blink, I was a senior citizen and he was a freshman in college. What a joy!
I have tried to capture the magic and artistry of this Victorian Santa. He sits an impressive 23 inches from his boot to his hat. Most years I have him sitting on the entry staircase, greeting our friends. Our dog \"Dude\" as seen in one of the photo\'s has great respect for this Santa and always stands a safe distance away.
I have tried to capture the few areas that show age with the plaster flaking. Santa\'s nose and the nose of one of the toys shows the years. Santa\'s full beard covers the flaking but for photography I pushed his beard aside so you could see the damage. I personally think it adds to the authenticity of this vintage piece.
The Wizard\'s Workbench Santa\'s are in many museums throughout the world. It is little wonder!
