You are offerding on a very interesting original German M40 combat helmet. One can see on the inside edge of the aluminum interior band were it is stamped as being made in Germany in 1940. The interesting thing about this helmet is that the shields that are present on both sides of the helmet are of the Norwegian army. This indicates that this a German helmet that was reissued to the Norwegian army either during the war or after WW2 ended. The Germans occupied Norway from 1940 until the war ended in 1945. After the war, a fair amount of abandoned military supplies were used by the rebuilt Norwegian army. I bought this cool helmet in 1975 at an antique store in San Diego that specialized in Nazi militaria. It is now time for it to move on to a new home were it will be appreciated. To be honest, it has been stored away in a cardboard box in my closet for the past 40 years. I hope that it will move onto a a good home were it will be displayed and appreciated. The learther liner is in great shape. The outer shell does show some minor surface rust, but it is only surficial and it could be cleaned off if you desire to do this. The paint on the interior is in very good condition. I offer a complete money back guarantee if you are not thoroughly happy with it. All I ask is that you will have to pay for the return postage. I am adding some additional information about the manufacturer marking on the inside of the aluminum band. I tried to include a photo of the area between the helmet and the band near the right side buckle attachment point. With my camera, this was just not visible in the picture I have included on the sale. At any rate, I just got a magnifying glass with a light on it. The marking is stamped into the aluminum metal and it is about an inch across. It is a circle with a large 1940 in the middle the 1940 marking is about a quarter inch long. Around this date is the information in German \"Lederver Arbeittung\" on the bottom part of the circle it states something with a WZ, and what looks like \"Ulb Metall\" and then perhaps \"Ch Burg\" ,there is additional lettering, but my eyesight cannot make out the other letters. The top part translates to \"Leather workings\" I believe that the bottom wording is the company that made it. The 1940 is obvious to see.
