6 1/4\" tallantique Miniature VAPORIZER kit. This is a very early QUACK MEDICINE device, used in conjunction with VAPO CRESOLENE, a patent-medicine liquid-concoction that was heated up by means of this lamp and ingested by a patient to CURE various afflictions of the respiratory system. This \'package\' consists of a small oil lamp bottle which burnt oil to cook the Cresolene, the glass chimney on the lamp, the frame works which holds everything in place, the little panabove the lamp to cook the Cresolene, and the box which all comes in.

Little oil-lamp bottle is embossed: \"VAPO - CRESOLENE / USE KEROSENE\" The tin pan-holder has inscribed patent dates, August \"1885\" and \"1889\".

Condition: All of the kit is in super good condition, very fine. The box is probably the worst as it has wear, some areas missing, is marked on, and it is MISSING THE TOP. But it did its job, protected everything that was inside the box, and the condition just gets better from here, everything else is in very good condition. All you need is some lamp oil and Cresolene to fire it up and get cured ...

This little lamp is in such good condition that it just needs to be filled with lamp oil (kerosene) and fired up. It even has the wick in place, ready to light. It is hard to find these lamps that are in this complete condition, all intact and functional. This one is like that, even down to the glass chimney, which commonly broke and so now today are the hardest part of this whole get-up to find. Actually I think the Cresolene that was poured into the top pan and cooked over the lamp, isn\'t all that it was cracked up to be. Though it was heavily advertised as a respiratory cure, I believe that it originally had creosote in it, including PVC contaminants and in reality by today\'s medical standards, EPA and FDA standards, there was enough carcinogenics in the Cresolene concoction to kill you quicker than cure you. In summary these miniature lamps are quite difficult to find complete yet when you do buy one, you want to buy one that is all complete and ready to go, and here is it, check it out!
