This is anORIGINAL of the ultra-rare \"Pattern 1912\"carlisle bandage pouch which was produced and issued toMarines from before WWI through WWII. The pouch is constructed of cotton canvas and hastwo Carr \"Durable Dot\" smallsnaps on the flap which havea 1913 patent date stamped on them (see close-up images below). The pouch was designed to carry the metal tin containing the \"Carlisle\" bandage issued for wounds and carried by all Marines. The pouch started life as the earlier pattern in which the wire hanger passed through two grommeted holes from the inside of the pouch and was converted to the more conventional arrangement with the wire hanger being suspended from a doubled over length of web strapping material, similar to the canteen\'s suspension(see image of back of pouch below). The pouch is in very good condition in the usual \"salty\" condition of Marine \"782\" gear and has faded to a light khaki color. There is some wear to the bottom of the pouch (see image below). Two Marines towhom this pouch was issued have stamped theirnames under the flap and on the back below the chape hanger (see images below). Here\'s a chance for the advanced Marine Corps collector or re-enactor to obtain a rare piece of \"Deuce Gear\".
