Vintage Album with 60 Original Black & White Photographs, most of SS Siberia Maru - Yokohama, Japan
1927-1930This album has 60 black and white snapshots, most taken aboard the steamership Siberia Maru when it was in the NYK line: passengers, captain and crew, views of other boats and vessels, photos of the San Vincente. There are also photos of the Blub Hotel, a man in a rickshaw going by J. Curnow & Co. in Yokohama, a woman in a kimono with a parasol going by the ship, men posing with a Bengal tiger, Japanese sailing boats, and a view of New York City and the Empire State Building. There are also photos of what look like businessmen (travelers?) on land.5 of the photos show a family (one of these has a tear) and there are 5 that show 2 men camping. 3 of the photos are loose and there are 10 blank sheets in the album. Some pages show that photos were removed.Estate find. The SS Siberia was renamed the Siberia Maru in 1927 and her first trip was to Yokohama in 1927 and was laid up in 1930 and scrapped soon after.#9-17
