Original RARE Civil War Confederate Double D-Guard Fighting Knife:

This is a very rare exceptional Confederate Double D-Guard in very nice original condition. It graced the cover of Lee Hadaway\'s book, \"The Updated Confederate Bowie Knife Guide\", and is also shown on pages 122-123 and also is pictured in Jack Melton\'s book \"Confederate Bowie Knives\", page 229. It comes with a letter of authenticity from Lee Hadaway. The knife measures about 18 1/2\" overall with a 13 1/2\" spear-point blade with median ridge. The blade measures about 1 3/4\" wide and is about .32\" thick.The knife shows an overall brownishage patina with no pitting. It has a stained hardwood grip with one age split. It is properly peened at the pommel and the knife remains tight. The hand is protected by 2 metal bands about 7/8\" wide. This piece is from my personal collection. Original Confederate Double D-Guards are extremely difficult to find and spear-pointbladed ones even more so.
