Original Ernst Heinrich Rothviolin - vintage 1923. This violin came from the estateof the original owner. I took the violinto Elderly Instruments in Lansing, Michigan to have their violinspecialist, Brian Bishop, give me an evaluation of condition. He confirmed that this was a correct 1923 ErnstHeinrich Roth violin. He said that thestructural condition was excellent and appeared to have retained its originalfinish. He also said that ElderlyInstruments recently sold a near identical 1923 Roth Stradivarius model for$6500.00. He stated that my violin wasprobably the nicer violin of the two.
I later took the violin to Wilson FineViolins in Birmingham, Michigan to have them perform the minor repairneeded. They repaired a 2 inch hairlinecrack, put new strings, bridge, tailpiece and tuner and set it up to play at acost of $335.00 (receipt included). Theyconcurred with the Elderly Instrument evaluation in that it is an originalfinish and undamaged 1923 Roth violin. Uponclose inspection Rob Wilson felt that the interior surface of the top of theviolin had a fine coat of varnish which is a common practice among violinmakers. They agreed that $6500.00 wouldbe a price that they would be comfortable with for consignment.
The interior of the violin is correctlymarked with its makers label “Ernst Heinrich Roth – Markneukirchen 1923” “Reproduction of Antonius Stradivarius, Cremona 1724”. It also has the makers logo branded on theinterior back plus a additional paper label that is marked “Sole Agents, Simson& Frey (Inc), New York, USA” (see photos).
Itis sold with its ebony tuning pegs, ebony tailpiece, ebony chin rest andoriginal leather hard shell case.

1) There is a correct \"Ernst Heinrich Roth - Markneukirchen\" oval stamp on the interior back just above the label.
2) The length of the body is 14.25 inches.
3) The repaired hairline crack is notvisiblein the photos because it is on the center seam and directly under the tailpiece.

Q. Is there a model number under the Roth stamped logo?A. I do not see a model number under the branded stamp. The Roth label is just under the stamp. Possibly a model number is covered by the label?
