This Model Is In Excellent Vintage Condition, With VERY CLEAR Acrylic, And Has No Chips Or Cracks! This Dual Compound Rotating Spacial Globe Comes Complete With Its Original Base, And The Only Thing To Note Is That There Is A Hex Nut And Brass Washer Floating On The Inside Base Of The Earth, Of Which I Am Unsure Of Their Purpose, And Will Leave Up To The Buyer To Either Do Something With Or Leave Alone, And Therefore I Am Selling This Incredible Globe As Is. I Will Make Sure To Pack Bubble Wrap In Between The Interior Earth Sphere And The Outer Galaxy Globe To Ensure That The Interior Earth Stays Mounted On The Steel Shaft That It Rotates On, For Without That, The Earth May Slide Off The Shaft. An impressive 16 inch diameter globe created by Robert H. Farquhar of Farquhar Transparent Globes, Philadelphia, PA. This transparent, three color, star globe is made of acrylic with all printing on the inside surface. This unit consist of a rotatable, transparent Earth globe with an adjustable horizon ring mounted inside of a transparent celestial globe. A sunlight terminator wire indicates where the Sun is rising and setting on the Earth\'s surface at any given time or date and a transparent cradle base with a workingmagnetic compass affixed to it\'s center. The outer celestial sphere displays 88 constellations and more than 1,100 naked-eye stars plus well known globular and galactic star clusters. Stars are identified by name Greek letter designation, brightness to 4.5 magnitude and distance from the Earth in light years.

Robert H. Farquhar began his journey to becoming \"Mr. World-Maker\" in 1948 after working in a shipyard and as a frustrated insurance salesman. Toying with globes was a long-time hobby of his but he was never able to have a good conception of the Earth in relationship to the sun or other solar bodies. So he created one! He primarily marketed his globes to schools and the Navy for navigation but in 1962 one of his globes \"the earth path indicator\" was used by John Glenn in the Mercury capsule as he orbited Earth.
