This is a very rare original Thonet chair that was made inPoland in the 1920s. Original Thonet chairs were stamped with the country theywere made in. Thonet had offices in 20 countries but the originals were made inPoland, and then Czech Republic.

Since the founder, Michael Thonet, a pioneer of furniturehistory, founded his first woodworking shop in 1819 in Boppard, the name Thonethas stood for high-quality, innovative and elegant furniture.

The chairs he built were revolutionary in design andconstruction.

The beautiful, simple design with elegant curves and minimalpieces of wood are a hallmark of Thonet chairs. Absolutely stunning woodcarving pattern on backrest and round-shaped seat make this chair especiallyunique.It is branded Thonet on the back frame and has the original stamp Made inPoland imprinted on the bottom back frame underside of the chair.The chair is in quite nice condition with a few nicks, rubs, and surfacescratches from gentle use and it has very minimal overall wear considering itsage. However, it is a little wobbly. It can be certainly used for sitting but Ijust liked having it sit in my house as a piece of history. Please see pictures for detailed description.DIMENSIONS
