Originalfull size 1914-1919 World War 1 silver British War Medal complete with ribbonand with officially impressed naming on the edge to:

7221 PTE. P. MALLEY. R. W. FUS.

Percy Malley served overseas on the Western Front as a Private in the 1/4th Bn. Royal Welsh Fusiliers during the Great War.

I haveobtained photocopies of his original Medal Index Card and Medal Rolls which relate to his medal entitlement and other details.

Shortly after the outbreak of WW1, Percy was sent overseas to France on the 6.11.14, with the1/4th (Denbighshire) BattalionRoyal Welsh Fusiliers. He was entitled to and awarded the 1914 Mons Star. His original service number 7221 is indicative that he was a Regular Army soldier, my research indicates that this number was allocated around 1902. It is probable that he was either called up from the reserve or attached to the 1/4th Bn. (a Territorial Force Battalion) to add some regular military experience to the unit. The six digit service number 200424 would have been allocated to him around 1916. I have found a Percy Malley born around 1893 who was a Postman and lived at the Drill Hall in Gresford in 1911, but it is probably not him if my theory relating to enlistment in 1902 is correct

The medal isin good condition with a nice dark patina. A six-inch length of good quality replacement ribbon isattached to the medal.

Copies ofthe medal index card, medal roll and documents shown in the photos, also many more research documents are included withthe medal.
