Original WW1 US Army Mother\'s Gold Star Armband, Banner, Soldier Killed in War:
$350.00
Rare and unusual set of 3 items, a US Army Infantry wool embroidered son in service window banner, the black armband with a gold star for a son killed in the war, and an old typewritten note saying: William Beyer 1st. World war Born 1893 Died 1918 recieved star in 1919. Banner is about 10\" x 5\", has some small moth holes, and has an ink stamp on the back that I can\'t make out what it says. The armband is 3\" x 18\" with a gold bullion star. There is some kind of print seen on a curled up edge. I\'ve read that it was president Wilson who supported the wearing of these armbands by mothers with a son killed in the war, but through many years this is the one and only I\'ve ever seen. Anyway, take care, Ron.
