ORIGINAL TRENCH ART PAINTING FROM WWI - ONE-OF-A-KIND - NOT A COPY, REPRO, OR RECENT PRINT

ARTIST: Lieutenant Commander Norman Wilkinson (1878-1971), Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve (RNVR). Hand-signed \"NORMAN WILKINSON\" in the lower left corner. Norman Wilkinson was a noted maritime artist. In WWI he served in the RNVR and is known for his famous paintings of fighting ta Suvla Bay and Cape Helles now in the Imperial War Museum in London. Wilkinson was also the Royal Navy officer who dreamed up the concept of dazzle pattern camouFlage for ships and convinced the Royal Navy to paint all ships this way in 1917-1918. He is a very sought-after listed artist.

THIS IS THE MOST VALUABLE PAINTING THAT I WILL BE LISTING. It is completely authentic. I bought it directly from a reputable World War I art dealer in London years ago. It has proudly been displayed in our museum. The only reason I am parting with it is because it is post-WWI and does not suit our traveling exhibit of WWI art by the troops.

DATE: Undated. Circa 1920\'s. Painting does not glow under a black light.

SIZE: Painting is a big 13\" x 21\". Professionally mounted in acid-free matting in a museum quality frame (22\" x 29\") under UV plexiglass that filters out 98% of untraviolet light.

THE FRAME AND PLEXIGLASS WILL BE HEAVY TO SHIP. I WILL NOT SELL OR SHIP THIS PAINTING TO RUSSIA, SOUTH AMERICA, OR AFRICA DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH POSTAL SERVICES.

SOURCE: This original WWI painting is from my private collection and was displayed as part of WWHAM\'s \"Brushes With War\" exhibit of original art by the Troops of World War I from 2011-2014. This particular painting is featured on page 42 in the WWI art book, \"Brushes With War: Paintings and Drawings by the Troops of World War I\" by Joel R. Parkinson (Schiffer Publishing, Ltd., 2014). The World War History & Art Musuem (WWHAM) in Alliance, Ohio and its collection are privately owned. WWHAM closed to the public in April 2014 so our Brushes With War art collection could travel to other museums. This painting is not used in the traveling exhibit and is offered to the public rather than being stored away out of sight.
