Truly outstanding sterling silver repousse\' coffee set by Black, Starr & Frost ca 1875-1900. Very heavy overall repousse\' pattern, very labor intensive process resulting in high relief pattern hammered out from inside the piece. Tall 7\" x 6\" coffee pot used for espresso or turkish coffee, bone insulators in handle. Creamer 5\" x 4.5\" and pedestal sugar bowl 2.5\" x 4.25\" seem oversize but Victorians used a lot of milk and sugar in this strong brew. Pot and creamer have inscription \"AM to EW\", sugar bowl has \"W\" in center of gold washed bowl. All marked \"sterling\" and with company name (see pics). Total weight is 27 troy ozs. This set is wort many times silver value, this kind of artistry is no longer being done, a lost art and many pieces have been scrapped. Excellent example of high quality silver in fine condition.
