This New Year Greeting card for 1885 was presented by Edwin L. Reinhold of Marietta, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was running for the office of Recorder under the Republican banner, and had already been a delegate to the 1884 Republican National Convention in Chicago. The first part of his name, Edwin, is part of the loss on the reverse, but tracking down who this card was for was pretty straightforward. There simply weren\'t many \"L. Reinhold\" names in Marietta to search through.

The image is very amusing, with Santa being so frightened by the owls in the tree that he has lost a mitten as he runs down the roof. The overall content is rather unusual as well. It serves as a Christmas card with Santa on the front, a New Year greeting, and a request for Political support. It is not tecchnically a trade card, but he had been engaged in business with his father for many years, including running a rolling mill in Chickies and managing the Marietta Hollow Ware & Enameling Co.

Size: Approximately 3\" x 4 3/8\" Please see scans for condition, as they are a critical part of the description. I will attempt to point out major flaws that may not show easily, but all images have been scanned at a high resolution, so the scans do a good job showing the cards. 130+ years is a long time for these trade cards to be hanging around, so the nicer cards have dodged many bullets. On the other hand, some have been injured while being torn from their albums. First Class Package shipping has the benefit of package tracking. Unless you were to buy dozens of cards, the shipping cost for additional items is almost never applied when I ship with First Class Packages that contain multiple items.
