In 1888, the Marinette Sawmill Company\'s No. 2 Mill was builta short distance below the present site of the M&M Box Company. This second mill later became Sawyer B. Goodman Company\'s No. 2 Mill. About 1905, Charles Goodman built a planing mill, and began to shiplumberdirectly to the trade by rail. The Sawyer Goodman Company became the largest shipper of lumber on the river. Theirfirst mill, built in Menekaunee in 1880, was the last mill operatingson the Menominee River in Marinette, when it closed at noon on July 31, 1931, ending a century of sawmill operations on the Menoninee.Three 11 by 14 photos of early 1900\'s Lima Locomotive Works which manufactured railroad locomotives for the logging industry. Pictures need close look for the company name and the # 5 engine. No specific print dates were obtained from seller. History indicates that in 1877, Lima Machine Works was established and manufactured railroad locomotives through the 1950\'s with its main shop located in Lima , Ohio. The locomotive was built to provide slow-moving pulling ability for use in the lumber industry.
