POLAND (USSR-occup) 1941-judaica-censored Postcard from Stanislawow to Palestine:

This is a 1941 postal card of May 14, 1941; little more than a month before the German invasion of USSR and a massive assassination(s) of Jews from this area. It has been send from the Soviet-occupied Polish town of Stanisławów (Russian name on the postal cancel is Stanislav) to British-dominated Palestine (today\'s Israel). The card and the mail have been censored and passed exams by a British censor in Palestine as indicated by a hexagonal cancel. The franking, Soviet stamps for 30 Kop, is (was then) appropriate for this kind of mail. The 10 Kop stamp (Scott #767) belongs to the 4-stamp USSR series of 1940 that was issued to commemorate USSR invasion of Poland on September 17, 1939. The invasion is described on this stamp as a \"liberation of western Ukraine and western Belarus\". The date September 17, 1939 is commemorated on the stamp as well. This franking makes the card really interesting as a postal history item.
This card and its franking constitute a RARE postal history and philatelic event that pertains to an important but little known historic aspect of WWII triggered (started) by NAZI Germany and Stalinist USSR via invading and dividing Poland. [Poland remained divided between Germany and Soviet Union from September 1939 through the end of June 1941. After that it was occupied by Germany alone until the end of WWII.] Many inhabitants of USSR-occupied Eastern Poland were Jewish who have families and friends in (then) Palestine. The card listed here appears to be a correspondence between family members forced to live in so distant parts of the World. Text of the letter appears to be written in German.
