CININNATI is proud to offer a wonderful Polia Pillin TWO WOMAN 10\" by 6\" tray in a modern style from the Mid Century period. POLIA PILLIN hand painted glazed art pottery in the the Pollin studio in Los Angeles, CA. The hand painted tray with two woman was from the MID CENTURY period.
The artist work was a partnership between William and Polia Pillin. William was born in 1910 in the Ukraine while Polia was born in Poland and immigrated to the United State in 1924 at the age of 24. William lived in Chicago after immigrating from the Ukraine where the two met in 1927 and married in the same year. William originally was an artist and poet while Polia studied painting and sculpture. The couple moved to Los Angeles and set up an art pottery studio. William did mostly shaping, glazing and firing the cermic pieces and Polia was the sensitive hand painting artist with a fine feeling for intricate designs painting delicate figures, abstract women and animals.
In the 1940s Polia created her first piee of art pottery and her primary artistic work was from 1948 to 1992.
