For your consideration, I am offering an original Pre WWI US Army M1912 Springfield Armory Hospital Corps Bolo Knife With Flaming Bomb!!These Bolo Knives can be referenced on page 21 of THE BEST OF U.S. MILITARY KNIVES BAYONETS & MACHETES by M. H. COLE. A heavy knife with a 12 inch round tip blade. The \"S\" shaped brass guard is very nice and retains a nice patina. Walnut handles with deep cut finger grooves with wear.
Blade is pitted and has had some grinding to sharpen, but curve shape is original. Haven\'t tried to clean up very much. The rounded brass cap, brass rivets and brass eyelet are present and attach the handles to blade. This specimen is stamped \" SA over Flaming Bomb over 1912 \" on the reverse ricasso. The overall length of the knife is 17 1/4 inches.This Bolo Knife comes with it\'s original and correct early type 1 leather belt loop heavy brown leather scabbard. It is stamped ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL 4907 with H.E.K. on the back of the belt loop.
The brass throat is correctly held in place with it\'s original brass rivets and retains a nice patina finish. Stitching is loose on approximately 1/2 of the bottom end of the scabbard. Loop is worn but complete. Good item that is necessary for your US or any military edged weapon collection.
