Antique hand tools - PREMIUM QUALITY tenon SAW #110:

Up for sale is an absolutely gorgeous early First Quality 14\" Tenon / Carcass SAW by TAYLOR BROTHERS of Sheffield. 


A 14\" / 355mm long blade, an amazingly full 83mm deep at the toe, 87mm deep at the heel, 11PPI cross cut profile, freshly hand sharpened to 12° of rake & 25° of fleam, a nice heavy spine that has 4 X separate stamps, the first quality handle is ornate & features double arising, a forward facing hook & bead, a long & delicate lambs tongue on a dolphin pattern handle with with an extra crisply detailed medallion with Taylor Brothers trademark the \"Recumbent Pascal Lamb\". 


Taylor Brothers were making saws from 1837 until 1971, looking at the back stamp & style of saw, most likely this saw was manufactured in the 1860-70s.


A hand finished ornate handle & heavy folded back, this is a saw from the \"Golden Years\" of saw manufacture 1860-1920s, when their skill was at it\'s zenith & the materials were high quality & makers took pride in their work & stood by their tools as a quality product, carpenters weren\'t using hand held circular saws yet, so they needed saws that worked well & held an edge.


This saw is for the woodworker that is happy to work unplugged, you\'ll know what I mean when you read this, it\'s like fast food vs slow food, it\'s getting back to the heart of woodworking & using your hands, not flicking a switch.

It cuts well, please note all sharpened saws are fully guaranteed, if it fails your expectations of a sharp saw, send it back in the condition that I sent it to you for your money back- simple, please note any blue colour you can see on the tooth line is engineers set out fluid- my saw Dr uses it to keep track of where he\'s filed- if you\'ve ever sharpened a saw that will make sense to you.

CONDITION

In authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age and use, the blade is straight, this saw is sharp, the extra nice handle has a deep brown patina, 1 X worm hole, some pinprick pitting to the blade, a gorgeous high quality tenon saw by a venerable & desirable English maker, sticky sharp & ready to cut tenons.
