PREWAR LIONEL 203 0-6-0 DIE CAST PRR STEAM SWITCHER WITH 2227B BELL RINGING TENDER
LOT DESCRIPTION: As the title says this lot consists of a Prewar Lionel 203, 0-6-0, Die Cast Pennsylvania Railroad steam switcher with the correct matching 2203B Bell ringing Tender that was made in the early 1940s. The locomotive has a operating headlight and automatic box coupler and the die cast tender also has a automatic box coupler and the bell ringing feature and a back up light. Both pieces are all original Pre War Lionel including all original paint, letters and numbers.
DESCRIPTION OF CONDITION: The locomotive and tender are both in great shape. The loco casting is perfect, no breaks, cracks or chips. Both classification lights (often broken off) are perfect as are the front cowcatcher steps. No rust or missing parts, great color, numbers nice and clear, drive rods and wheels all fine as is the front coupler. Some minor paint rubs here and there. The tender too looks fine, no cracks, breaks or chips on the shell. Wires to connect the tender to the loco are fine. Again, a great looking set that IMHO I would rate as in C-7, excellent condition but look at the pictures and you be the judge.
WORKING CONDITION: I have tested the loco and its not a great runner, it runs very slow and the e-unit often sticks, it needs a good servicing if you want to seriously run it on a layout. But the belling ringer works fine as do both couplers and the tender rear light works too.
