This is a beautiful pair of antique earrings dating to the Victorian era of the 19th century. The ornate dangle circle earrings feature an array of black garnet stones cut in various shapes and sizes. Black garnet was popular in the Victorian era especially for use as mourning jewelry. When held under a light, there are subtle flashes of a red color.In overall good condition with the loss of one stone at the top of the circle dangle. There is scattered flakes, chips, and abrasions to the stones. This condition is consistent with age and use. Each measures 1 3/8\" long in total dangling length. The circle is 7/8\" diameter, which includes the diamond shaped stones that extend beyond the perimeter of the circle. The circular garnets are each approximately 2.7mm and the diamond shapes stones are 8 x 4.8mm. Total weight of 5.9g. These elegant earrings will make eye-catching antique accessories.
