Pair of Vintage Antonio Pineda Sterling Silver Earrings, Mid Century Modern, Taxco, Mexico, 3inches Long, 1inch wide, 1/2 inch Deep, 28.6 grams, circa 1953

This is a wonderful Pair of VintageSterling Silver Screw Back Earrings designed by renowned silversmith Antonio Pineda. Each earring has 3 sterling tear drop shapes surrounding a sterling teardrop with a black stone. One earring is marked on the inside of the screw back with Antonio Pineda’s “crown” maker’s hallmark, and the other earring is marked with the Mexico “eagle” silver mark. The maker’s hallmark dates the earrings to 1953 or later. The earrings each measure approximately 3 inches long, 1inch wide, 1/2inch deep, and they have a combined weight of 28.6 grams. Other than some light scratches, this pair of Antonio Pineda sterling silver earrings are in very good vintage condition. (See Photos)

Antonio Pineda (1919- 2009) was born in Taxco, Mexico where he studied painting and sculpture as a youth.When he was 14 he was apprenticed as a silversmith at the Taller de Las Delicias which was newly founded by William Spratling. In 1941, after 8 years as an apprentice, Pineda founded his own workshop and making his own designs.
