I wish I could have taken better photos. This set is truly lovely and it is a fine smooth silky feel linen batiste fabric. Instead it looks all wrinkled in the photos, which they are not. This pair is probably Madeira linen, early. Check out the handmade linen buttons, quite lovely. The backside of the button is linen fabric. The embroidery is very fine applique work in each corner, with drawnwork on the ruffle and around the edge of the linen. Truly a fine quallity pair of shams. There is some faint staining on the back of one sham. The sham is interesting, the ruffle extends over the bottom seam of the pillow, which makes it look extra nice on your bed. The fabric is a fine batiste, not sure if it is linen or cotton, but it is the fine batiste used in Victorian time.

Dimensions are approx. 32\" x 31\" for the pillow insert area.

I photograph by a window in natural daylight, so I do have some shadows on the piece--they are not stains unless I mention it.
