Pair Lovely Big Old Republic Chinese Cloisonne Ginger Jars Lids ~Dragons ~Stands:

This sale is for a pair of lovely 10 3/4\" matching Chinese cloisonne ginger jars with lids. The ground is light brown with cloisonne clouds of gold wire. There are two large dragons on each jar chasing a flaming pearl in the clouds over water. The colors are brown, green, gold, pink, white, blue, red, black and lavender enamel.
The insides of the lids & jars and the bottoms are finished in blue enamel. The jars are unmarked but I believe they are Republic (1912 - 1949). Each lid has a light brown ground with gold wire clouds and a flaming pearl in the center. There are traditional Chinese borders around the rims of the lids and top of the ginger jars. The base metal appears to be brass with a nice patina.
Dragons are revered in Chinese culture and thought to rule over all creatures. Dragons are thought to be a little greedy so they are often shown in Chinese art as chasing the flaming pearl. They never catch it!
The two ginger jars are in excellent vintage condition with expected normal use. There could be minor surface scratches. There are a few areas on the ground that are a bit darker than most of the ground. This is not very noticeable and does not detract from the beauty of the jars. The insides of the ginger jars and lids are unstained. The lids fit nicely on the jars. The metal trim is somewhat tarnished which gives the jars an aged look. There are a few common characteristics of old cloisonné present such are tiny pit marks. There are no chips, cracks, repairs or damage.
A matching pair of vintage Chinese carved round wooden stands are included in the sale but are not original to the jars. The reddish stands are a lotus style with five small feet and match the colors in the jars nicely. The are several labels on the bottom that show the stands were made in China. The stands are in excellent vintage condition with normal wear. There are surface scratches, rubs and other signs of use. I did not find any chips, cracks, missing pieces, repairs or damage to the stands.
