Offered are two early 20th century silver rimmed Japanese cloisonne vases. They have a brilliant yellow ground with the front finely enameled with a dramatic phoenix bird in multi colored enamels, the rim and foot rim in silver. They measure 7 and 3/8 inches (18.75 cm) high by about 4 and 1/2 inches (11.25 cm) wide at the widest. The vases are unmarked. I believe they are from the workshop of Ando Jubei. Ando Jubei was a highly regarded Japanese cloisonne artist. A collection of his work is held in the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore and another at the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford University in England. These vases will be shipped double boxed.
