Historic Documents

Pair of advertising documents for Hollis Eye Water and Spice Bitters - circa 1840s or 1850s. Thomas Hollis was a druggist on union Street in Boston.

Interesting and rather detailed text in both ads - touting the benefits of the drugs for sore eyes, or mixing the bitters with brandy to help with stomach problems. He even advises that the concoction best consumed during the day! I suppose if you drank enough of the stuff... all your pains would go away!

Enjoy these lovely ads.
