Pair of Antique French Spelter Statues on Wood Bases. Nautical Theme of a Woman in Distress and her Rescuer. Circa 1890-1900. The wood base of the man has a brass plate saying \"RESCUE\", the wood base of the woman has a brass plate saying \"DISTRESS\". The statues are marked with the artist name \"Mestais\".

Mestais is a listed sculptor who worked in France around the turn of the century.

Statues are 22.5\" high. Wood base is 6 5/8\" in diameter.

The rag in the right hand of the woman has been repaired. The man has a crack on his left hand an a crack on the base. None of which is noticeable.
