Let me start by saying the photos just don\'t do these beautiful shelves justice. I take photos with the intent of showing every flaw, etc, and these photos are taken outside in full sun. Inside, these shelves look much better and also slightly darker. I am sure these were once part of a sideboard or a mantle. They are approximately 19 inches tall and the back and side each extend about 8.5 inches. I believe they are walnut. They are in good condition with the exception of the two holes you see in each of them where I assume they were attached to the wall as well as the spots in the finish, which again are not as obvious in person as in the photos. These were an estate sale find in a victorian house full of wonderful goodies in a little town full of victorian houses. The winning buyer pays $28.00 s/h for these shelves to be well packaged and shipped in the lower 48 states
