Lovely vintage pair of Japan / Japanese sterling silver convertible candelabra / candlesticks marked K. Uyeda and 950 Sterling, circa 1948-50. These weighted candle holders convert from a three branch candelabra to a single candlestick which can be adjusted to two different heights. Stamped on the bottom: Weighted 950 Sterling K. Uyeda. K. Uyeda (Kichigoro Uyeda) is likely the oldest established Japanese silversmiths still in business today. Founded in 1884 as a souvenir store for foreign tourists in Tokyo, Japan. In 1923, they opened in the Imperial Hotel which was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Overall each candle holder measures 11 5/8\" tall to top of finial lid x 11 5/8\' across the arms with a 4\" diameter base. The total combined weight is 1,069.9 grams. They each have typical minor signs of use or wear, otherwise in good condition. P
