Size:Length of log hook 93 cm (36 inches) approx

Age: c1910

Condition:Excellent condition. The upper part is bright iron which has at some point been lacquered/varnished thus retaining its brightness. The business end has been given a coat of stove black. There is a very small nick to the edge of the shovel.

Detailed description:

This is a lovely pair of fire irons, a shovel and a log fork/hook (with two straight prongs and one curved one), which are the most useful tools you would need for tending an open fire in a large inglenook fireplace.

The handles are in the form of shepherd\'s crooks and decorated in the manner of Bill Thornton and Charlie Downer. There is a central twisted area of each shaft with an echoing motif. Age (c1910) is an estimate but they are of that period.

Simple and elegant, with a nice weight and balance.
