A little history about Pairpoint: In 1880, a small Britannia factory was established adjacent to the glass works by the owners and director of the Mt. Washington Glass Company. Thomas J. Pairpoint (along with fifty workers) left Meriden, Connecticut and was named factory superintendent. Thus the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company was born. Mr. Pairpoint was considered to be the foremost silver designer in the country at the time. The company prospered and received favorable attention for its designs. In 1881, a second building doubled the size of the factory. A third building was constructed in 1882, and by 1892 two additional buildings had been built. The apparent success from the start must be credited to the ability of Thomas J. Pairpoint. Pairpoint ceased production in 1958.
