America\'s oldest carousel, \"the flying Horses\" is a Charles W.F. Dare carving done in 1876 in New York. In June 1884, F.O. Gordon, A New York Lawyer, brought the carousel by steamer to Martha\'s Vineyard where it has whirled each summer since that time. \"The Flying Horses\" proudly takes its place among the delightful cup plates now hand produced by the Pairpoint Glass Company of Cape Cod.The Chesapeake Carousel Largo, Maryland ORVA 1978 is in clear glass in perfect condition and features a Kangaroo.The Chesapeake Carousel Largo Maryland ORVA 1977 is in clear glass in perfect condition and features a horse (no rider).Cup plates of this type were used between 1826 and 1860 when fashion decreed tea cups without handles.
