Palestine/Israel: numbered emblem pin for driver of the \"Dan\" transport company, c.1947-50; size: 17 x 26mm; weight: 3.25g. One prong of pin reverse has broken off.
The Dan company was founded in 1945 when the \"HaMa\'avir\" transport society of Tel Aviv merged with the \"Ichud Regev\" society.
As the design depicts the name \"Dan\" with its vowel accent but without the old type-faced acronym \"Shatz\" below (which may mean \"National Public Transport\" - Sherut Artzi Tziburi, or \"United Public Transport\" - Ichud Sherut Tziburi), the pin probably dates to the period when \"Dan\" was less of a new name to the public, but still in the period where accents were used in publicly displayed text (eg. for new immigrants to better read), hence around end of Mandate/start of independent State era.
