FRANCE / FRENCH PARIS SILVERSMITH HENRI SOUFFLOT .950 STERLING SILVER FLATWARE/FORKS, 1st MINERVA HALLMARK (INDICATING 950/1000 FINE SILVER), HEAVY GAUGE SILVER, 27 DINNER FORKS (2,408 GRAMS)(EACH 8 1/4 INCHES LONG), 5 SALAD OR DESSERT FORKS (253 GRAMS)(EACH 7 1/4 INCHES LONG), 9 LARGE SOUP OR SERVING SPOONS (748 GRAMS)(EACH 8 1/2 INCHES LONG), 13 SOUP SPOONS (619 GRAMS)( EACH 7 1/2 INCHES LONG), AND 8 TEASPOONS (72 GRAMS)(EACH 6 INCHES LONG), IN GOOD USED CONDITION WITH SOME WEAR, HEAVY PIECES, TOTAL WEIGHT FOR THE SET IS APPROXIMATELY 4,100 GRAMS OF .950 FINE SILVER! BEAUTIFUL OLD EUROPEAN SILVER!!!PLEASE NOTE: THIS SET INVOLVES TWO SILVERSMITHS MAKING THE SAME PATTERN, ONE WE HAVE IDENTIFIED, THE OTHER WE HAVE NOT. BOTH HAVE THE RISING SUN AND STAR HALLMARKS, ONE SET IS (H.S.) HENRI SOUFFLOT OF PARIS, THE OTHER IS (H.C.) WE ASSUME OF PARIS AS WELL!! Beautiful Art Nouveau high grade sterling silver (.950) flatware set, with a large number of forks and spoons. We believe these pieces are from the very late part of the 19th Century to 1910, with the beautiful and unusual monograms looking very much like Art Nouveau. Good used condition, with monogram. Appears to be one pattern with two different French makers, one of which appears to be Henri Soufflot (H.S.)(un soleil levant, une étoile au-dessous 1910/a rising sun, a star below 1910), and the other (H.C.)(un soleil levant, une étoile au-dessous Date Unknown/a rising sun, a star below Date Unknown). There is also a makers mark or location mark on the back side of the forks. Beautiful simple pattern. Forks are very heavy and thick gauge silver. Could use a good polishing. The hallmarks are on the obverse, and includes the highest grade MINERVA hallmark (1st), as well as the makers marks. The actual hallmark is imaged below, as well as textbook examples of the Minerva Hallmark. The images below features a few more than we were able to show above. Some of the two smaller sizes of spoons have some dings, mostly apparent in the teaspoons. There are a lot of images below, so please allow time for all to load.
