Parker Duofold Centennial Maki-eKoma Inu (The Guardian) Fountain Pen NOS - M Nib
In 2005, Parker has released four Centennial maki-e fountain pens viz. Hane (Feather), Koma Inu (The Guardian), Chinese Lions and Tairyun (Twin Dragons). This is a Limited Edition Parker Duofold Centennial Maki-eKoma Inu Fountain Pen released for the Asian market in 2005 with only 130 pieces. Koma Inu and Chinese Lions are very similar in design and can be easily mixed up. Both depict the "Foo dog", which is an important totem for the Chinese and the Japanese. Koma Inu are often seenguarding the entrance or theinner shrineof many JapaneseShinto shrinesor kept inside the inner shrine itself, where they are not visible to the public. Koma Inu are meantto ward off evil spirits and hence the term "Guardian" is used,
The master artist for this pen was Shozan Hariyama. After more than 10 years from its debut release, this pen is now getting more and more difficult to find. In my opinion, Koma Inu is more difficult to come by than the Chinese Lions even though Koma Inu is known to have 10 more pieces than the Chinese Lions. Apart from a light buff at the edge of the wooden box (please see photo number 8), this pen set isin its perfect shape. The fountain penis brand new, never inked or dipped and comes with all its boxes and papers. This pen comes with a low number and a very attractive price compared to other pieces which cost at least a couple of thousand dollars more. Only one piece is available, so buy it before it is too late!
